At 22 weeks pregnant, a Newport News mother learned that her baby had Down Syndrome along with heart failure so severe that there was no way he would survive. The mother went on to carry him until 28 weeks and 4 days when she gave birth to her baby boy weighing 1lb 2oz. This little miracle continues to fight and is now over 2 1/2 months old, but he has had severe health complications along the way and continues to have a long road ahead. During this extremely challenging time, the family has also had to manage all of the COVID restrictions at the hospital as well as care for their 4 daughters at home. The River Ellis Foundation was able to provide a month’s worth of food to alleviate some of the stress in their lives. We continue to send all our love and support to this family. #giveasunrise #sunrisestory
